Our research is based on an extensive fundamental analysis of a company’s financial health and operating position. Because the reports are written with a long-term outlook, we prefer that clients be willing to hold stocks deemed “undervalued” for at least one full year, both to give the market time to realize the intrinsic value of the company and to minimize taxes and transaction costs. We do not, however, provide specific advice on when to buy or sell securities, and readers are of course free to make their own choices about holding periods and trading frequency. The primary method of valuation used by Jelly Roll Capital is discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, which is a method of finding the net present value of the estimated future cash flows of a company. By examining financial reports and making certain adjustments, Jelly Roll Capital believes it can make more accurate judgments about past and potential future cash flows than can be deduced through more common measures, such as Price-to-Earnings. While our valuation model is computerized, a real person is still responsible for compiling a company’s operating data and statistics, creating growth forecasts, examining the operating environment for risk and growth potential, and doing research to understand what other investors and traders are thinking about the stock. Essentially, we aim to combine the number-crunching abilities of a computer with the safety checks and qualitative analysis only a human can provide. In our reports, we also evaluate the efficiency of the target company and its primary competitors in employing capital. This metric, return on invested capital, is one of the most telling ways to separate the truly profitable, growing businesses that will increase in value from those that are destroying shareholder value through ineffective operations. We offer timely research on a variety of different companies, and you can see if a report on a company of interest exists on our stock reports page or our company briefs section. If you cannot find a report on your desired company, contact us using the information listed below and a personalized report will be written for you. |
